Khmelnytsky Judicial Forum: “Council of Judges of Ukraine: Potential and Realities”

On November 6, 2017, a delegation of members of the Association of Judges of Ukraine took part in the Khmelnytsky Judicial Forum on the topic: “Council of Judges of Ukraine: Potential and Realities”, which was held by the Association for the Development of Judicial Self-Government of Ukraine with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Program “New Justice” and the project “Support for the Development of Judicial Self-Government” at Khmelnytsky University of Management and Law, Khmelnytsky Khmelnitsky.

Participation of the Association of Judges of Ukraine in Khmelnytsky Judicial Forum: Challenges and Prospects of Judicial Reform

On November 6, 2017, a delegation of members of the Association of Judges of Ukraine took part in the Khmelnytsky Judicial Forum on the topic: “Council of Judges of Ukraine: Potential and Realities”, which was held by the Association for the Development of Judicial Self-Government of Ukraine with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Program “New Justice” and the project “Support for the Development of Judicial Self-Government” at Khmelnytsky University of Management and Law, Khmelnytsky Khmelnitsky.

From the Association of Judges of Ukraine, the forum was attended by: President of the Association of Judges of Ukraine Judge of the Supreme Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases Yevtushenko Olena Ivanovna, Vice President of the Association of Judges of Ukraine, Judge of the Court of Appeal of Ukraine Kyiv Prysiazhniuk Oleg Bogdanovich and judge of Frankivsk district court Lvova Martynyshyn Maria Alekseevna.

Also participating in the forum were: Chairman of the Council of Judges of Ukraine Valentina Simonenko, Member of the Council of Judges of Ukraine Judge-Speaker of the Economic Court of Kharkiv Oblast Tetiana Suyarko, Head of the Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association Nagnybide Volodymyr Ivanovych, President of the Association development of judicial self-government of Ukraine, judge of Lviv District Administrative Court Volodymyr Kravchuk, Chairman of the Court of Appeal of Khmelnytskyi Oblast Martsinkevych Anatoly Mykolaiovych, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Khmelnytsky University of Management and Koshynskyi Serhii Antonovych and representatives of judicial associations, namely: the All-Ukrainian Association of Administrative Judges, the Association of Judges of Commercial Courts of Ukraine, the Association of Investigative Judges of Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Association of Women Judges.

The forum addressed issues of judicial reform, prospects and realities of constitutional guarantees of court independence, mechanisms of legal influence on judicial efficiency, sectoral changes and international judicial processes.

The issue of changing the opinion of society on the work of the judiciary, the issue of communication of the judiciary with the media, human rights protection of citizens was discussed.

Deepening information and knowledge in society about the work of judicial bodies.
