II Conference “Protection of Rights and Judicial Expertise in the Field of Intellectual Property”

On November 1, the II Conference “Protection of Rights and Judicial Expertise in the Field of Intellectual Property” was held in Kyiv. The conference was attended by the President of the Association of Judges of Ukraine Olena Ivanovna Yevtushenko and member of the Board of the Association Olena Vasylivna Kafidova. The organizers of the event were the Intellectual Property Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Research Institute of Intellectual Property
During the panel discussions, industry specialists were able to discuss urgent problems of judicial expertise and issues of protection of intellectual property rights in the process of reforming legislation and state legal system of intellectual property protection and creation of the Supreme Court on Intellectual Property. During the first session of the Conference, the issues were discussed judicial reform and the establishment of the Supreme Court on Intellectual Property. Director of Research Institute of Intellectual Property Olena Orlyuk considered draft laws in the field of intellectual property.During the second session “Judicial Expertise in the Process of Amendments to Procedural Legislation and Creation of the Supreme Court on Intellectual Property”, moderated by Serhiy Petrenko issues of judicial expertise in the field of intellectual property were considered. Oleksandr Doroshenko's report was devoted to the rules of ethical behavior and reputation of judicial experts in the field of IP, as well as the assessment of the qualifications of judicial experts and specialists in the field of IP. The third session was held in a new format in the form of an interactive game “IP-Court”. Ekaterina Sopova took part as a judicial expert on the side of the plaintiff.
